Dr. Melanie Watkins graduated from Stanford University in 2003.
She enjoys speaking to students in high schools, colleges, and medical schools on issues regarding academic success, particularly for students from disadvantaged backgrounds.
Dr. Watkins has published short stories and articles in various popular publications including Chicken Soup for the Single’s Soul and Chicken Soup for the African-American’s Soul.
Her memoir, Taking My Medicine, is her story of how she overcame challenges along her path, such as teenage pregnancy and being a first generation college student.
Dr. Watkins currently practices psychiatry in Walnut Creek, CA.
